GradesUp Video: Classifying Living Things
Bacteria, Cell, Fungi, Invertebrate, Microorganism, and more, explained in an easy to understand way.
Bacteria
A domain of unicellular prokaryotes with cell walls. Bacteria. Bacteria are tiny single-celled organisms that can be found almost everywhere and play a central role in various processes like decomposition and digestion.
Cell
The basic unit of life. Cell. A cell is the smallest living part of an organism that carries out essential functions.
Fungi
The kingdom of organisms that absorb nutrients from dead matter, like mushrooms or molds. Fungi are living things that break down and feed on dead plants and animals.
Invertebrate
An animal without a backbone. Invertebrate. Invertebrates are animals that do not have a spinal column or backbone.
Microorganism
a very small organism that can only be seen with a microscope, like bacteria. microorganism. A microorganism is a tiny living thing, like bacteria or fungi, that you need a microscope to see.
Nucleus cell
The control center of a cell. Nucleus. The nucleus is like the brain of the cell, directing all its activities and storing genetic information.
Organ
A group of tissues that work together to perform a function, like the heart, liver, or stomach. Organ. An organ is a part of the body that performs a specific job, like pumping blood or digesting food.
Organ system
A group of organs that work together to perform a specific function, like the digestive system. Organ system. An organ system is a collection of organs that work together to perform a specific job in the body.
Organism
Any living thing. Organism. An organism is a living entity that can grow, reproduce, and respond to its environment.
Photosynthesis
The process by which plants use sunlight, carbon dioxide, and water to make food. Photosynthesis. In photosynthesis, plants take sunlight and turn it into energy to grow.
Species
A group of similar organisms that can breed and produce fertile offspring is called a species. In simple terms, a species is a group of living things that can have babies together.
Tissue
A group of similar cells working together to perform the same function. Tissue. Tissue is like a team of cells doing the same job to help the body work properly.
Vertebrate
An animal with a backbone. Vertebrate. Vertebrates are animals that have a spine or backbone, like humans, birds, and fish.
