Dominant trait
A trait of an allele that masks the other trait. Dominant trait. A dominant trait is a characteristic that shows up when an organism has it, even if there's only one copy of the gene for it.
Genetics
The study of how traits are passed from parents to offspring is called genetics. Genetics is how kids get some traits, like eye color or hair type, from their parents.
Heredity
The passing of traits from parent to offspring. Heredity. Heredity means that children look a little like their parents because they get some traits, like eye color or height, from them.
Recessive trait
A trait that is masked from a dominant allele. Recessive trait. A recessive trait is a characteristic that can be hidden by a stronger trait and only shows up when both parents pass on the hidden trait.
Trait
Any characteristic of an organism. Trait. A trait is a feature or quality that an animal or plant has, like the color of its fur or the shape of its leaves.
