Conservation
The careful management and use of resources. Conservation. Conservation means taking care of our Earth by saving and using resources wisely so they last longer.
Fossil fuel
An energy source made of the remains of organisms that lived long ago, like coal or oil. Fossil fuel is a kind of energy that comes from plants and animals that lived millions of years ago.
Nonrenewable resource
A natural resource that is consumed faster than it can be created. Nonrenewable resource. A nonrenewable resource is something we use from nature, like coal or oil, that takes a very long time to form and can run out.
Pollution
Adding harmful substances to the land, water, or air is pollution. Pollution is when the environment gets dirty or unsafe because of harmful things.
Renewable resource
A resource that is replaced by nature more quickly than it is consumed. Renewable resource. A renewable resource is something we can use over and over again because nature makes more of it, like sunlight or wind.
Resource
Any material that can be used to meet a need. Resource. A resource is something we use to help us do things or make things, like water, wood, or sunlight.
