Control
The standard used for comparison of test results in an experiment. Control. A control is something in an experiment that doesn't change so you can see how other things affect it.
Data
Information gathered through observation. Data. Data is the facts or details collected from experiments or observations.
Experiment
Testing a hypothesis by collecting data in controlled conditions. Experiment. An experiment is when we try things out and observe what happens to understand more about science.
Hypothesis
A possible explanation or answer to a scientific question hypothesis. A hypothesis is an idea you can test to try and explain what you observe.
Model
A representation of an object or system. Model. In Grade 6 science, a model is a simple way to show how something works or looks.
Technology
The use of scientific observations to solve practical problems. Technology. Technology is anything created by humans to make life easier or solve problems.
Theory
Explanation of observations supported by evidence. Theory. A theory is a well-tested idea that helps us understand how something in nature works based on evidence.
Variable
The factor that can change in an experiment. Variable. A variable is something in an experiment that you can change to see how it affects the results.
