Hypothesis

A possible explanation or answer to a scientific question

Real World Example

Imagine you're trying to figure out why your favorite coffee shop's line is always long on certain days but not others. This situation is similar to forming a hypothesis, where you come up with a potential reason or explanation for a particular observation or phenomenon. Just as you might guess that the line is long because of a special promotion or a busy day at work, a hypothesis in science proposes a possible explanation to answer a specific question or observation. In both cases, you are identifying possible reasons for what you're seeing and then testing or verifying those reasons to see if they hold true, just like a scientist does with a hypothesis.
