Pseudopod

Pseudopod Definition | Radience Gaming

Extension of the cytoplasm that some protists use to move, also called ‘false foot’

Real World Example

Imagine you're trying to reach something just out of your grasp on a high shelf, so you stretch out your arm as far as you can to grab it. Similarly, certain protists extend a part of themselves, called a pseudopod, to move or capture food, much like you're extending your arm. Just as your arm becomes a temporary extension to reach the item, a pseudopod is a temporary extension of the protist's cytoplasm, acting as a 'false foot' to help it move or engulf food, solving the problem of reaching what is otherwise out of reach.
