The ability to do work

Real World Example

Imagine trying to push a heavy shopping cart up a hill. Just as you need strength and stamina to move the cart against gravity, energy in science is the ability to perform work, such as moving objects, heating things up, or powering machines. In this analogy, your physical strength is akin to energy, and the work done is moving the cart up the hill; without sufficient energy (or strength), the cart won't move, just as without energy, no work can be done.
