Real World Example

Imagine trying to get comfortable on a chilly morning by wrapping yourself in a cold blanket. Just as the cold blanket initially absorbs your body heat when you wrap it around yourself, conduction is the process by which heat transfers from a warmer object to a cooler one through direct contact. In this analogy, your body represents the warmer object, the blanket is the cooler object, and the transfer of heat from your body to the blanket illustrates how conduction works to equalize temperatures between two contacting surfaces.
